COMMISSION DECISION of 18 December 1990 altering the limits of the less-favoured areas in the United Kingdom within the meaning of Council Directive 75/268/EEC (Only the English text is authentic) (91/25/EEC)

THE COMMISSION OF THE EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES,

DE COMMISSIE VAN DE EUROPESE

Having regard to the Treaty establishing the European Economic Community,

GEMEENSCHAPPEN,

Having regard to Council Directive 75/268/EEC of 28 April 1975 on mountain and hill farming and farming in certain less-favoured areas (1), as last amended by Regulation (EEC) No 797/85 (2), and in particular Article 2 (3) thereof,

Gelet op het Verdrag tot oprichting van de Europese Economische Gemeenschap,

Whereas Council Directive 84/169/EEC of 28 February 1984 concerning the Community list of less-favoured farming areas within the meaning of Directive 75/268/EEC (United Kingdom) (3) describes the regions of the United Kingdom included in the Community list of less-favoured areas within the meaning of Article 3 (4) and (5) of Directive 75/268/EEC;

Gelet op Richtlijn 75/268/EEG van de Raad van 28 april 1975 betreffende de landbouw in bergstreken en in sommige probleemgebieden ( 1 ), laatstelijk gewijzigd bij Verordening ( EEG ) nr . 797/85 ( 2 ), inzonderheid op artikel 2, lid 3,

Whereas the Government of the United Kingdom has requested, in accordance with Article 2 (1) of Directive 75/268/EEC, alterations to the limits of the less-favoured areas in the Annex to Directive 84/169/EEC;

Overwegende dat in Richtlijn 84/169/EEG van de Raad van 28 februari 1984 betreffende de communautaire lijst van agrarische probleemgebieden in de zin van Richtlijn 75/268/EEG ( Verenigd Koninkrijk ) ( 3 ) de gebieden in Groot-Brittannië zijn beschreven die zijn opgenomen in de communautaire lijst van probleemgebieden in de zin van artikel 3, leden 4 en 5, van Richtlijn 75/268/EEG;

Whereas the inclusion of new municpalities in the lists of areas within the meaning of Article 3 (4) of Directive 75/268/EEC meets the criteria adopted by Directive 84/169/EEC for the delimitation of the respective areas;

Overwegende dat de Regering van het Verenigd Koninkrijk overeenkomstig artikel 2, lid 1, van Richtlijn 75/268/EEG om wijzigingen van de grenzen van de probleemgebieden in de bijlage bij Richtlijn 84/169/EEG heeft verzocht; dat de opneming van nieuwe gemeenten in de lijsten van probleemgebieden in de zin van artikel 3, lid 4, van Richtlijn 75/268/EEG beantwoordt aan de criteria die bij Richtlijn 84/169/EEG zijn vastgesteld voor de afbakening van de respectieve gebieden;

Whereas all the alterations requested by the Government of the United Kingdom under Article 2 (3) of Directive 75/268/EEC combined do not entail an increase in the utilized agricultural area of all the less-favoured areas together which exceeds 1,5 % of the total utilized agricultural area of the United Kingdom; whereas the limit set in the said Article is therefore respected;

Overwegende dat het geheel van de wijzigingen, waarom door de Regering van het Verenigd Koninkrijk overeenkomstig artikel 2, lid 3, van Richtlijn 75/268/EEG is verzocht, niet leidt tot een uitbreiding van de totale oppervlakte cultuurgrond van alle probleemgebieden samen, met meer dan 1,5 % van de totale oppervlakte cultuurgrond van het Verenigd Koninkrijk, en dat de grens die in genoemd artikel wordt gesteld, derhalve is nageleefd;

Whereas the measures provided for in this Regulation are in accordance with the opinion of the Committee on Agricultural Structures and Rural Development,

Overwegende dat de in deze beschikking vervatte maatregelen in overeenstemming zijn met het advies van het Comité voor de landbouwstructuur en de plattelandsontwikkeling,

HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION: Article 1

HEEFT DE VOLGENDE BESCHIKKING GEGEVEN : Artikel 1

The list of less-favoured areas in the United Kingdom contained in the Annex to Directive 84/169/EEC is hereby amended in accordance with the Annex to this Decision. Article 2

De lijst van probleemgebieden in het Verenigd Koninkrijk die is opgenomen in de bijlage bij Richtlijn 84/169/EEG, wordt overeenkomstig de bijlage bij deze beschikking gewijzigd . Artikel 2

The Decision is addressed to the United Kingdom.

Deze beschikking is gericht tot het Verenigd Koninkrijk .
