extending the validity of Common Position 2004/694/CFSP on further measures in support of the effective implementation of the mandate of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY)

tot verlenging van Gemeenschappelijk Standpunt 2004/694/GBVB betreffende aanvullende maatregelen ter ondersteuning van de daadwerkelijke uitvoering van het mandaat van het Internationaal Straftribunaal voor het voormalige Joegoslavië (ICTY)

THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION,

DE RAAD VAN DE EUROPESE UNIE,

Having regard to the Treaty on European Union, and in particular Article 15 thereof,

Gelet op het Verdrag betreffende de Europese Unie, en met name op artikel 15,

Whereas:

Overwegende hetgeen volgt:

(1) On 11 October 2004, the Council adopted Common Position 2004/694/CFSP [1] on further measures in support of the effective implementation of the mandate of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY), in order to freeze all funds and economic resources belonging to all persons publicly indicted by the ICTY for war crimes who are not in custody of the Tribunal.

(1) De Raad heeft op 11 oktober 2004 Gemeenschappelijk Standpunt 2004/694/GBVB [1] vastgesteld betreffende aanvullende maatregelen ter ondersteuning van de daadwerkelijke uitvoering van het mandaat van het Internationaal Straftribunaal voor het voormalige Joegoslavië (ICTY) teneinde alle geldmiddelen en tegoeden te bevriezen die toebehoren aan alle personen die door het ICTY publiekelijk in staat van beschuldiging zijn gesteld wegens oorlogsmisdaden en die niet bij het tribunaal in hechtenis zitten.

(2) Common Position 2004/694/CFSP applies until 10 October 2006.

(2) Gemeenschappelijk Standpunt 2004/694/GBVB is van toepassing tot en met 10 oktober 2006.

(3) The Council considers it necessary to extend the validity of Common Position 2004/694/CFSP for another 12 months.

(3) De Raad acht het nodig Gemeenschappelijk Standpunt 2004/694/GBVB met nog eens twaalf maanden te verlengen.

(4) Action by the Community is needed in order to implement these measures,

(4) De Gemeenschap moet handelend optreden om deze maatregelen uit te voeren,

HAS ADOPTED THIS COMMON POSITION:

HEEFT HET VOLGENDE GEMEENSCHAPPELIJK STANDPUNT VASTGESTELD:

Article 1

Artikel 1

The validity of Common Position 2004/694/CFSP is hereby extended until 10 October 2007.

Gemeenschappelijk Standpunt 2004/694/GBVB wordt verlengd tot en met 10 oktober 2007.

Article 2

Artikel 2

This Common Position shall take effect on the date of its adoption.

Dit gemeenschappelijk standpunt wordt van kracht op de dag waarop het wordt aangenomen.

Article 3

Artikel 3

This Common Position shall be published in the Official Journal of the European Union.

Dit gemeenschappelijk standpunt wordt bekendgemaakt in het Publicatieblad van de Europese Unie.
