Having regard to the Treaty establishing the European Economic Community,
|

Having regard to Council Directive 76/893/EEC of 23 November 1976 on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to materials and articles intended to come into contact with foodstuffs (1), and in particular the last indent of Article 7 (1) (a) thereof,

vu la directive 76/893/CEE du Conseil, du 23 novembre 1976, relative au rapprochement des législations des États membres concernant les matériaux et objets destinés à entrer en contact avec des denrées alimentaires (1), et notamment son article 7 paragraphe 1 sous a) dernier tiret,

Whereas the last indent of Article 7 (1) (a) of Directive 76/893/EEC provides for the determination of a symbol that may accompany materials and articles instead of the particulars "for food use" or a specific indication as to the use of such materials and articles;
|
considérant que l'article 7 paragraphe 1 sous a) dernier tiret de la directive 76/893/CEE prévoit l'établissement d'un symbole pouvant accompagner les matériaux et objets en remplacement des termes «pour contact alimentaire» ou «convient pour aliments» ou encore d'une mention spécifique relative à l'emploi de ces matériaux et objets;

Whereas such symbol must be easy to understand ; whereas in addition it must be possible to reproduce it on materials and articles or on other media under the best possible technical conditions;
|
considérant qu'un tel symbole doit être facilement compris et que, en outre, sa reproduction sur les matériaux et objets ou sur d'autres supports doit pouvoir s'effectuer dans les meilleures conditions techniques possibles;
|
|
Whereas the symbol reproduced in the Annex hereto meets these criteria;
|
considérant que le symbole figurant à l'annexe répond à ces critères;
|
|
Whereas the measures provided for in this Directive are in accordance with the opinion of the Standing Committee on Foodstuffs,
|
considérant que les mesures prévues par la présente directive sont conformes à l'avis du comité permanent des denrées alimentaires,

|
HAS ADOPTED THIS DIRECTIVE:

The symbol referred to in the last indent of Article 7 (1) (a) of Directive 76/893/EEC shall be that reproduced in the Annex hereto.
|
Le symbole prévu à l'article 7 paragraphe 1 sous a) dernier tiret de la directive 76/893/CEE est celui reproduit à l'annexe.

The Member States shall take the measures necessary to authorize with effect from 1 January 1981 the use of the symbol referred to in Article 1.
|
Les États membres prennent les mesures nécessaires pour autoriser l'emploi du symbole visé à l'article 1er à partir du 1er janvier 1981.
