THE COMMISSION OF THE EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES,

RICHTLINIE DER KOMMISSION

Having regard to the Treaty establishing the European Economic Community,

vom 9 . Juni 1980

Having regard to Council Directive 76/893/EEC of 23 November 1976 on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to materials and articles intended to come into contact with foodstuffs (1), and in particular the last indent of Article 7 (1) (a) thereof,

zur Festlegung des Symbols für Materialien und Gegenstände , die dazu bestimmt sind , mit Lebensmitteln in Berührung zu kommen

Whereas the last indent of Article 7 (1) (a) of Directive 76/893/EEC provides for the determination of a symbol that may accompany materials and articles instead of the particulars "for food use" or a specific indication as to the use of such materials and articles;

Whereas such symbol must be easy to understand ; whereas in addition it must be possible to reproduce it on materials and articles or on other media under the best possible technical conditions;

DIE KOMMISSION DER EUROPÄISCHEN GEMEINSCHAFTEN -

Whereas the symbol reproduced in the Annex hereto meets these criteria;

gestützt auf den Vertrag zur Gründung der Europäischen Wirtschaftsgemeinschaft ,

Whereas the measures provided for in this Directive are in accordance with the opinion of the Standing Committee on Foodstuffs,

gestützt auf die Richtlinie 76/893/EWG des Rates vom 23 . November 1976 zur Angleichung der Rechtsvorschriften der Mitgliedstaaten über Materialien und Gegenstände , die dazu bestimmt sind , mit Lebensmitteln in Berührung zu kommen ( 1 ) , insbesondere auf Artikel 7 Absatz 1 Buchstabe a ) letzter Gedankenstrich ,

HAS ADOPTED THIS DIRECTIVE:

in Erwägung nachstehender Gründe :

Nach Artikel 7 Absatz 1 Buchstabe a ) letzter Gedankenstrich der Richtlinie 76/893/EWG soll ein Symbol geschaffen werden , mit dem Materialien und Gegenstände in den Verkehr gebracht werden können und das die Kennzeichnung " für Lebensmittel " oder einen besonderen Hinweis auf den Verwendungszweck dieser Materialien und Gegenstände ablösen soll .

Article 1

Dieses Symbol soll leicht verständlich sein und auf den Materialien und Gegenständen oder auf anderen Unterlagen leicht angebracht werden können .

The symbol referred to in the last indent of Article 7 (1) (a) of Directive 76/893/EEC shall be that reproduced in the Annex hereto.

Das im Anhang abgebildete Symbol entspricht diesen Anforderungen .

Die in dieser Richtlinie vorgesehenen Maßnahmen entsprechen der Stellungnahme des Ständigen Lebensmittelsusschusses -

Article 2

HAT FOLGENDE RICHTLINIE ERLASSEN :

The Member States shall take the measures necessary to authorize with effect from 1 January 1981 the use of the symbol referred to in Article 1.

Artikel 1

Das in Artikel 7 Absatz 1 Buchstabe a ) letzter Gedankenstrich der Richtlinie 76/893/EWG vorgesehene Symbol ist im Anhang abgebildet .

Article 3

Artikel 2

This Directive is addressed to the Member States.

Die Mitgliedstaaten treffen die erforderlichen Maßnahmen , um die Verwendung des in Artikel 1 genannten Symbols ab 1 . Januar 1981 zuzulassen .

Artikel 3

Diese Richtlinie ist an alle Mitgliedstaaten gerichtet .
